David McDonald Speaks About OSI Group’s Future

Local companies are run using similar business strategies. However, for international corporations, a one-size-fits-all approach is not practical. This is because various subsidiaries of the company operate in countries that use different laws from that of the host nation of the parent company. In addition, the population has diverse tastes and preferences. To cater for government regulations, varying talent pool, and cultural nuances, most subsidiaries run independently.

David McDonald employs this strategy at OSI Group. The president of OSI appreciates the different business environments that each OSI plant operates from. To this end, he promotes the use of local management teams to ensure that the leading provider of processed foods to retail brands offers its clients with products that match their tastes and cultures.

OSI group operates over 50 food processing facilities, which are spread in 17 countries. These plants produce a broad range of value-added protein items like beef patties and sausage links. They also provide retail and foodservice brands with delicious sandwiches and pizzas. Despite having dozens of plants, OSI Group continues to expand its operations. Its recent expansion efforts aim at ensuring that the company dominates the Chinese market. OSI entered the market over 20 years ago. Over the years, it has grown the list of its clients to include Starbucks, Yum, McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Subway, Burger King, and Saizeriya.

David McDonald OSI Group firmly believes that by dominating the Chinese market, OSI will be well placed to achieve its sustainability and stability goals. This is because the country has the largest consumer market, which is growing at a quicker rate. Besides having a large population, the populace of the country are becoming more affluent.

McDonald says that OSI has always been pushing for the growth of its products in China and the rest of the world. Over the years, the company has continued to open new facilities and conquer new markets. David praised Sheldon Lavin for his concerted efforts in enhancing the company’s success. Lavin is OSI group’s chairman. He has worked for the company for over four decades.

McDonald noted that the recent acquisition of Baho Food was good for the company’s expansionary efforts. He notes that such acquisitions will help the company to widen the variety of its products, while also improving its client base.
