Daniel Taub, former Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom, was in office from 2011 to 2015 and had great influence on the Israeli trade market. Before becoming an ambassador, Taub served many positions throughout his lifetime that gave him strong experience and passion towards his ambassadorship. The UK native studied at Oxford, University College, and Harvard before moving to Israel in 1989. He then served as a combat medic and a reserve officer in the Israel Defense Forces. In the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Taub was an international law expert specialized in laws of war and counter-terrorism. This lawyer has also worked as a speechwriter, legal advisor and negotiator. His negotiations included playing a role in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and furthering the growth of the International Red Cross. This impressive history in public service for Israel all led him to his ambassador position in 2011.
During his four year term as ambassador to the UK, trade between the UK and Israel doubled and entered into a “Golden Era” according to British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Sajid Javid in an article to The Algemeiner. During this time it was calculated that over 300 Israeli businesses had been established in the UK, providing jobs and economic growth and strengthening the trade relationship between the two. This growth was certainly a success for Daniel Taub and for Israel and the UK.
In addition to his focus on trade, Taub also emphasized technological growth and advancement. He was even nominated for a Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Award for developing business and trade following his launch of Bizcamp competition, a collaboration project with Google. Soon after taking his office as ambassador, Daniel Taub became the first Israel Ambassador to the International Maritime Organization based on London.
While his legal and political career history is quite impressive, Taub doesn’t stop there. He also has a media presence as a lecturer and public speaker making appearances on CNN< Sky News, and the First Ambassador to be interviewed on the BBC Persian network. Taub is also an author, frequently writing political articles featured in many major news networks, a book called “Parasha Diplomatit” inspired by biblical texts, and is even a scriptwriter for an Israeli drama series. Taub has made quite a name for himself in many fields in Israel and internationally.
